What is Day Without Shoes?
Day Without Shoes began to help raise awareness of the impact a pair of shoes can have on a person's life. During a campaign held every April, the community is encouraged to donate their new or used shoes or make a cash donation to help every struggling family get a pair of shoes.
Find out how you can support Stephen Center with this important drive.
- No cost involved. Simply sign up as a collection site and have a receptacle delivered to your location.
- Go shoeless to help raise awareness of this event.
- Drop off new or used shoes at Cornhusker Bank or partner location. Free give-a-ways and refreshments at Cornhusker Bank at 111th & Blondo for those dropping off shoes throughout the day.
- Sell paper “feet”, for a donation, at your organization during the shoe drive. We can provide you with the paper feet to offer your staff/customers. All donations for the “feet” will be presented to Stephen Center in Omaha at the end of the shoe drive.
- May 17th - Sole Impact Shoe Distribution Day at Stephen Center on 2723 Q Street. Experience the impact this campaign has as you help guests choose their new shoes.
- 10:00 a.m. Check presentation.
- 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Shoe distribution.
If you choose to have a collection receptacle in your organization, you will receive the following benefits:
- Listed as a Collection Site Partner on our Cornhusker Bank website.
- Cornhusker Bank social media – Share photos and videos with us of your shoe collections, why you collect shoes for this event, and what it means to you and your team. Posts will be shared on the Cornhusker Bank and Stephen Center's social media pages.

This multipurpose, on the go bag can be used not only for shoe collection, but as a shopping bag, pool bag or gym bag. You can use it over and over again. The possibilities are endless.
DAY WITHOUT SHOES EVENTS HAVE BEEN A HUGE SUCCESS
In April of 2011, Cornhusker Bank and People’s City Mission partnered to shine a light on the impact of shoe insecurity in the Lincoln community with the first ever Day Without Shoes campaign. Over 200 businesses, churches, organizations and schools served as collection sites for individuals to donate their new and used shoes.
This annual campaign found such success, that in 2020 a partnership was created with Stephen Center to provide support to the Omaha community as well. Since its inception, members of Lincoln, Omaha and the surrounding communities have collected over 284,400 pairs of shoes and monetary donations totaling over $110,200!
