Multifactor Authentication Security Enhancement (MASE)

Increasingly over the past few years, crimes such as identity theft and phishing have made the online environment a means for fraudulent activity. In an effort to improve protection of consumers' privacy, Federal regulations require all financial institutions to implement new safeguards for Internet Banking customers. The safeguards are commonly referred to as Multifactor Authentication. Multifactor Authentication combines the use of the traditional user code and password as well as an additional means of identification. Effective January 2007, Cornhusker Bank will help protect our customers' information by requiring them to verify their identity using a Multifactor Security Enhancement when they access their account information online.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. What is MASE?

Cornhusker Bank's Multifactor Authentication Security Enhancement is a new security system for your Internet Banking account that adds an extra layer of protection to your online account. The new security feature provides an image and phrase that is personalized by you.

2. How does MASE work?

When you enroll, you will select an image and a phrase known only to you. Whenever you log on to your Internet Banking account, the system will display the image you selected so you can feel confident that you are accessing the Cornhusker Bank site and not an imposter site.

The system also checks the computer that you are using to access your Internet Banking. The system remembers your computer if it is registered when you set up the security. If you log on from a different computer, the system will take additional steps to verify your identity, such as asking you to provide the answers to your own personalized security questions.

3. When will the changes take place?

January 2007

4. Will my User Code and Password remain the same?

You will be asked to enter an Access ID, which will be the same as your current Access ID. Your password will also remain the same. MASE will simply add an additional step to make your current account even more secure.

5. What customers will be affected?

Personal Online Banking and Business Online Banking users.

6. When should I register my computer?

Customers should ONLY register personal computers. When registering, a cookie will be placed on the computer to verify it the next time the customer logs in. This should not be done on public computers.

7. Can I register more than one computer?

Yes. If you have more than one personal computer, each computer can be registered. If you access account information from a work or other public computer that should not be registered, you can continue to access account information, you will just need to answer one of your challenge questions selected during enrollment.

8. I share a computer with someone else who has their own Internet Banking account. Can both of us still log on from the same computer?

Yes, you can both use the same computer to log on to your individual accounts. There is no limit to how many people can log on to Internet Banking from the same computer.

9. Can I change my secret image and phrase?

Yes, you can change your authentication image and phrase at any time. To make the change, go to the options tab and select change security data after you log on to your account.

IMPORTANT!! NEVER enter your password without seeing your personal authentication image and phrase.

10. What do I do if I am locked out from my account?

You will have to call Cornhusker Bank at 402.434.2230 to clear the lockout from your account.
