Our History
Cornhusker Bank occupies a unique position in the Lincoln area. In this day of mergers and acquisitions, the bank retains its hometown touch and all the personal services of a true "community bank." Customers have access to all the products and services offered by larger national banks, while doing business with a locally-owned business, rich in Lancaster County history.

It all began in 1903 when Farmers State Bank was chartered in Davey, just north of Lincoln. The bank moved to Lincoln in 1960 and was renamed Cornhusker Bank. Today, Cornhusker Bank has five Lincoln locations and three special branches to serve customers at the Legacy, Legacy Terrace and Legacy Estates Retirement Centers. The bank also provides numerous convenient ATM locations throughout the city.

The Cornhusker Bank Technology Center, located at 11th and Cornhusker, provides state-of-the-art data processing services. Throughout the years, Cornhusker Bank has been known for its technological advances. It was first in Nebraska to initiate CheckImaging, which gives customers a simplified record-keeping system and copy of each check that clears their account. Today, customers can access their banking information through a variety of ways, including viewing their statement and cancelled checks via Internet Banking.

Cornhusker Bank is also known for its commitment to the success of local small businesses. The bank is a premier provider of small business services including SBA loans, merchant processing for credit card sales and full-service business insurance. The bank offers "Business Advantage," an accounts receivable purchase program designed to free up cash flow for small businesses. The bank not only provides cash flow services. The investment center also serves as a resource by providing retirement plans for small business owners and their employees.

As a small to medium sized business itself, Cornhusker Bank’s management and owners recognize the importance of stability and long-term commitment to the community. Evidence is demonstrated in the tenure of customers and staff who develop relationships, which results in prompt service and personal advice. President Barry Lockard is actively involved in day to day business and readily accessible to customers visiting the bank's 11th & Cornhusker location.

The strengths and dedication of Cornhusker Bank's staff, coupled with leading-edge technology, guide the vision of continued growth during the bank’s second century of services to the citizens of Lincoln and Lancaster County. Whether you own and operate a business or require banking services for your family, Cornhusker Bank remains committed to your success.
